Our Team

Helen Driscoll of InviteSiteHelen Driscoll started Fine Paper Co. in 1995 with the donated sweat and labor from friends and by cashing out her pension plan and selling her mint 1965 bathtub 356 Porche. Fine Paper Company stocked thousands of handmade, treefree papers and offered custom letterpress printing. Since then, she has worked extensively with eco papers and printing technologies, designing and manufacturing the Fine Paper and Invitesite lines. Scott Rubel and Helen became partners in 1998 and incorporated to found Invitesite in 1999.

Previously, Helen sold rare books at Heritage Book Shop for seven years, was Director of Events for the Poetry Society of America in Los Angeles for 5 years. She has published short stories, articles and written too many unproduced screenplays and continues to write on subjects that reflect the values of the environmentally conscious. From 1996 - 1999, film producer Kathleen Kennedy hired Helen to help her build what is now an exceptional rare book library.

Scott Rubel of InviteSiteScott Rubel Rubel's early years were occupied building a castle with Michael Rubel (his uncle) from concrete, recycled railroad trestle timber, and river rock. Completed in 1986, this six-story, two-acre structure has been featured in many human interest stories, including the often televised Huell Howser PBS series "California's Gold." One of Scott's print studios is located there. Rubel Pharms is considered to be one of the first buildings created from recycled materials and found objects. Noted environmental writer John McPhee wrote about Rubel Pharms in The Control of Nature.

A skilled draftsman, engraver and digital artist, typographer and letterpress printer since 1982, Scott uses his many talents in developing Invitesite's website and stationary lines.

Cynthia Driscoll of InviteSiteCindy Driscoll joined Invitesite in March, 2006 as Customer Service Manager. Prior to moving to California, she lived on Long Island, New York. Cindy has had an exciting mix of careers which include modeling, display design, real-estate, and designing and executing faux finishes. She has also designed one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. We still lose Cindy to modeling jobs.

Cindy enjoys swimming and yoga, as well as reading and watching movies. Especially pirate movies. Usually, with her dog Coco by her side.

Alex Meier of InviteSiteAlex Meier, Head Programmer. Really really smart programmer. You may use Google to find out how nuclear fission works, or how to survive sub-zero temperatures on a mountain top, but we use Alex because we don't have to worry about spelling when we ask him a question and he's slightly better looking than a Google page. Alex is also a painter and is raising his young son to be even smarter and craftier than all of us put together.

Astrid Mendoza of InviteSiteAstrid Mendoza Astrid is our super organized job order process manager. Even though she is a new mom, her child doesn't appreciate how smart and funny she is, but we do. She loves making things and creating order where there was none.

Jules Ostro of InviteSiteJules Ostro Gives her all in general customer care and in providing our famous free samples. Her precision and dedication all help make everything in the office hum. Her time away from InviteSite is spent composing, playing and teaching piano.

Moises Mendoza of InviteSiteMoises Mendoza Production Manager Extraordinaire, Moises runs the printing, fabricating and shipping departments. Moises operated letterpresses in his homeland Guatemala before he became an accountant. This experience, plus his many years operating a successful catering business gives him the chops to manage InviteSite's bustling production floor. He has gifted us with his talent for more than five years and as we grow he continues to amaze us.

Patrick Utsunomiya of InviteSitePatrick Utsunomiya Patrick handles some of the photography, website updates, typesetting, and sometimes, the phone. He's currently studenting at PCC and plays a searing lead guitar for local band, The Dust Pilots.

Mary Readinger of InviteSiteMary Readinger Mary hails from the great state of Maine, and loves California weather so far. A recent grad of Pamona College, Mary loves creating costumes for theater productions. Her BA is in Russian Lit and language -- drama is thoroughly in her blood. Mary left us in May 2008, to pursue a career in theater in Maine, but we still think she's with us because her voice and hands are in some of our how-to videos.

Fred Ramirez of InviteSiteFred Ramirez Fred is our fabulous, exacting offset printer. He's too busy to look up at the camera right now. He manages to get our handmade and difficult papers through an offset press consistantly. Many of our papers cannot be printed by your average offset printer. He checks everything 3 times and hates mistakes! Fred had a long career as a professional bass player.
